My Grandfather :)... What can I tell you about him. He was a great man.

Grandpa was born in Webb City, Mo. He met my Grandma, Lillian Burns, in Taft, CA. They met at a dance where Grandpa was there playing the piano. They married on April 15, 1937 and eventually made their home in Belridge, CA. They had one child, my father, Thomas Duffin.

In the 1940 U.S. Census they lived at 272 S. Bellridge, Bellridge Oil Lease, Kern Co., Ca.

My grandfather worked for Bellridge Oil Company (later to become part of the Shell Oil Company) as the office manager. He was very good with business and made a very good and efficient office manager for the company. Grandpa and Grandma lived in Belridge and McKittrick, Ca. in a house owned by the oil company. Grandpa and grandma bought a house in Arroyo Grande, Ca. and spent their summer vacations there. The house was given to my father and mother when they were married and I grew up in the house. I used to go visit grandpa and grandma during my Easter vacations from school. I remember going to pick up grandpa from work and getting to see his office and where he worked. He was very proud of his job. Grandpa and grandma had a standard sized white poodle named "Topper". He was sure a handful! They also had a neighbor that owned a horse and the neighbor would let my brother and I ride it with his assistance of course!

After retiring from the oil company, grandpa and grandma bought a mobile home in Los Osos, CA. I loved going to visit them there. Grandpa and grandma sold the home in Los Osos and bought a mobile home in Arroyo Grande, Ca to be closer to the family. Grandma had a three wheeled bicycle that I loved to ride around the mobile home park. They eventually sold the mobile home and bought a house in Arroyo Grande.

Grandpa enjoyed collecting coins and building model oil derricks. He would tell me all about his coin collection and I used to go to his house and help him put the coins in coin holders and label them for him. He eventually gave me the collection and I enjoy coin collecting myself.

Grandpa was a member of the masonic lodge and he was also a voter worker for his area during election times.

My siblings and I enjoyed growing up with our wonderful grandpa. We all miss him very much and look forward to seeing him again someday in Glory! XOXOXO!
