WEST POINT – James D. "Jay" Brantley, 65, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. James David Brantley was born June 10, 1946, in Kosciusko to Cora Faye Cupit and J.B. Brantley. He was a truck driver for Bryan Foods for 37 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. James D. "Jay" Brantley married Beth Elaine Millsaps Brantley on July 23, 1967, at Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. He had attended Mississippi State University and Holmes Junior College.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the the Rev. Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Bluff Cumberand Presbyterian Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Beth Millsaps Brantley of West Point; two daughters, D'Juana Cummings (Mike) of New Hope and Stacey Dengler (Chuck) of Hattiesburg; two sons, Ray Brantley (Cobe) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Lawrence Brantley of West Point; seven grandchildren, Aaron Cummings, Beth Ann Cummings, McKinzie Cummings, Charles Dengler, Kadin Dengler, Maddox Brantley and Lynn Dengler; and one sister, Beverly Shields (John) of West Point.

Pallbearers will be Ed McDonald, Tom Jack Williams, Ray Brantley, Lawrence Brantley, Aaron Cummings and Chuck Dingler.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Pearson, A.R. Parks, Elbert Smith, Willie Hightower, George Bailey, Trenton Stockton, Buck Harmon, Jack Danovosky, Cleophous Witherspoon, the staff of West Point Ambulance Service and the staff at University of Alabama Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 460 McCord Street, West Point, MS 39773 or to Cedar Bluff Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery, c/o Mrs. Anna Sims, 911 Henryville Road, Cedar Bluff, MS 39741.
