Dr. Douglas Thomas Ryan was born June 12, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY and passed away on July 27, 2011 at the age of ninety.

Growing up he went to PS10 in Brooklyn and the Arts Students League. After serving in the Army during WWII, Douglas went to work for Bendix Corporation and then moved to Palm Beach, Florida and went to work for Palm Beach International Airport. There, he attended Palm Beach Junior College and Florida Atlantic University.

After moving from Florida to Mississippi, Douglas obtained his doctorate degree from Southern Mississippi College and began his career as a Professor for numerous colleges in Mississippi.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Margaret W. Ryan; daughter, Dr. Margaret R. Morris; son, Douglas P. Ryan and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Donald T. Kimbrough and Kitty Morris-Carter; sister-in-law, Irene Ryan; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Oak Hills Mortuary on Monday, August 1, 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
