Ruby R. Ganfield was born Aug. 26,1901 in Cascade, the daughter of Henry and Louisa Jane Denley Ganfield. She is a graduate of Cascade East Side High School and a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught school in the Jones County schools until her marriage. On February 19, 1925 at the family home in rural Cascade, she was united in marriage to Marion Martin.
She was a substitute teacher in the area schools for many years and she and her husband farmed in the rural Cascade area. He died Nov. 1, 1968. She was a member of the Cascade Community Presbyterian Church and a member of the Mission Society.
Survivors include a son, Duane and Doris Martin of Cascade; four grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nina Martin and Maude Hutton, both of Cascade, and a brother, the Rev. Denley Ganfield of Iowa City. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Leslie Ganfield. A Ruby R. Martin memorial fund has been established. Reiff Funeral Home was in charge of. arrangements.
