Irene married Leroy Chris Hansen on September 13, 1941 in Schenectady (Schenectady), NY. They had 4 children: Robert Chris, Elaine Kathryn, Kristie Ann, and John Kelly.

OBITUARY provided by Kathy Margrave:
Irene K. Hansen, 83, of Lincoln, Neb., and formerly of Centralia, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Lakeview Rest Home in Firth, Neb.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia. Burial will be Glendale Memorial Gardens in Centralia. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hansen was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Britt, Iowa, to Austin and Johannah Cambo Hefte. On Sept. 13, 1941, she married Leroy Hansen in Schenectady, N.Y., and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hansen was co-owner and operator for many years of Yellow Bird Sea-Tel at Negril Beach, Jamaica.

Mrs. Hansen belonged to Centralia United Methodist Church. She belonged to several service organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star and served as worthy grand matron of the grand chapter of Missouri in 1962-63. She helped raise funds for the Cancer Research Center in Columbia and served many years on its board of directors.

Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Warren of Mount Lebannon, Pa., and Kristie Rader of Lincoln, Neb.; two sons, Robert Hansen of Kansas City and John Kelly of Tequesta, Fla.; two sisters, Adelaide Fox of Britt, Iowa, and Austinette Nerhus of Windom, Minn.; two brothers, Bern Hefte of Mesa, Ariz., and Kenneth Hefte of Springfield; six grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and one stepgreat-grandson.
