U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Loyola University, in 1924, was admitted to the bar that same year, commenced to practice law in Los Angeles and was also teacher in Los Angeles secondary schools, (1924-25). In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1945. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was general counsel and manager of the Washington office of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, 1945-1947, plus engaged in the practice of law in Washington, D.C., until his death at age 73.
