Kern M. Sizemore was born Mar. 5, 1853 a son of Thomas B. and Katherine Weston Sizemore. He was born, raised, lived and died in Pumpkin Valley, near Eidson, Hawkins County, TN. He married a neighbor girl Sarah Jane Stapleton on Oct. 6, 1875. They were the parents of four children, all boys and only two lived beyond infancy: Hillery Walter Sizemore and Thomas Evan Sizemore. His nickname within the family was, "The Kernel" (Colonel). One source says he died in 1904 but this is unsubstantiated.
