Death came to Mr. and Mrs. John Gustaf Anderson of Center City, aged couple, during the week when Mrs. Anderson age 71 years, passed away on Sunday, morning and Mr. Anderson, age 82 on Tuesday evening. Both died at their Center City home, Mrs. Anderson passing away from the direct cause of pneumonia and Mr. Anderson from general infirmities of old age and grief brought on by the recent demise of his wife.
A double funeral service was held this afternoon at 1 pm from the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church of Center City, Dr A N Nelson officiating. Pallbearers for Mrs. Anderson were: George B Nelson, Emil Gustafson, Frank Nelson, Elmer Johnson, Victor Johnson and Charles Reed. Pallbearers for Mr. Anderson were all nephews namely: Rodney, Roy, Raymond, Ragner and Rudolph Lifgren and Alfred Shoquist. Burial was made at the cemetery of the church.
Mrs. Anderson, whose maiden name was Hilda Johnson, was born in Elmeboda, Sweden, November 2, 1863 and came with her parents to this county in about 1868. Mr. Anderson was born in the same part of Sweden April 14, 1852 and came to this country in the year 1869. After spending a short time in Moline, Ill with his brother Frank Anderson he came to the Chisago Lake Community. Mrs. Anderson also came here settling south of Shafer on a farm. She was confirmed in the Center City Church. June 9, 1878 and was married to Mr. Anderson in 1888. The couple then lived on a farm located between Center City and Shafer. Here they farmed until 1919 when they moved to Center City where they have since lived. Both have been long time members of the church there and were highly respected in the Center City community.
