Jack Verner James was the fourth child of Deck & Minnie James. He was born in the little house on the Conley Henry place near Whetstone,SC. He lived only 6 hours. His daddy, Deck built his casket. Rose Wilbanks, a neighbor lined the casket with cotton and white cloth. His Mother, Minnie told her oldest daughter, Julia Margaret (then age 7) to watch and be sure Miss Wilbanks got it all covered good.
His Mother, Minnie was to sick to go the the funeral. Minnie and Jack are buried beside each other in Double Springs Methodist Cemetery.
