In Independence, N. Y., Aug. 28, 1883, of consumption, Caroline, wife of Johnson Briggs, in the 68th year of her age. Over two years since, she was thrown from a carriage and had a hip broken, from which she suffered much. She had also been afflicted with a cough for fifty years, but in all of her afflictions and sorrows, no complaint ever escaped her lips. She was one of the most patient persons we ever saw. She found a hope in Christ in her youth, and united with the Presbyterian Church then existing in Independence. Her faith in Christ was unshaken, and he was a stronghold for her in the days of her trouble. She died at the home of her son in law, O. G. Clarke.
