Nepal Royalty. He was the King of Nepal from 1975 to 1990. He was actually proclaimed King of Nepal after the death of his father, King Mahendra on January 31, 1972, but the coronation never took place until February 24, 1975. He married his wife, Queen Aiswarya on February 28, 1970, while still Crown Prince. He was well-educated, attending the St. Joseph School in Darjeeling, India, Eton College in England, and Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. He participated in several historic meetings including the Non-Aligned and SAARC, the South Asian Association for Regional Care. He served as King of Nepal until 1990 when he was forced to abdicate the throne due to new political parties, but was able to keep his title. He was assassinated at the Royal Palace in Katmandu, Nepal, by his son, Crown Prince Dipendra, apparently after an argument over who he wanted to marry.
