She was a member of the Lea Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was the widow of Dr. J.L. Burke (1902-1991). They lived in Jal, NM where he was Superintendent of Schools from 1935-1963, then moved to Hobbs when he became President of College of the Southwest in 1964. He served there until his retirement in 1971.
