Vera Louise Sund, 93, of Thompson Falls passed away May 31, 2007 at Clark Fork Valley Hospital - Long Term Care in Plains, Montana.
Vera was born April 25, 1914 in Spokane, WA the 6th of 9 children to Isaac "I.E." and Maggie Jameson Wickersham. She grew up in Waitsberg, WA and in 1934 attended beauty school in Seattle.
Vera married Forrest G Sund on March 14, 1936 in Missoula and they lived in Lewiston, ID until they purchased a ranch on the Yaak River in Montana. In 1953 Vera and Forrest moved to Moyie Springs, ID with their two young children, Dave and Genelle "Pete".
In 1963 the Sund family moved to Thompson Falls, where Forrest owned and operated the Philips 66 station and Vera stayed active homemaking, painting, gardening, cross stitching and enjoying life as grandchildren blessed them over the years. Vera will be especially remembered for her talents in landscaping and beautiful oil and tole painting. Vera and Forrest were married 63 years until his death in 1998.
Vera is survived by her son, Dave and daughter-in-law Linda of Thompson Falls, and her daughter Pete and son-in-law Mike Rogers of Fork, WA. Her five granddaughters are Leslie (Shawn) Swideck of Cheyenne, WY, Libby (John) Phillips of Bainbridge Island, WA, Mikki Rogers of Portland, OR, Abby (Neil) Harnett of Thompson Falls, and Maggie (Shawn) McGillis, also of Thompson Falls. Vera has three great-grandchildren, Michael, Olivia and Callie.
Graveside services will be held at White Pine Cemetery at 11am, Monday, June 4, 2007.
