Gloria Clarice Gordon Appling 94 of El Campo, passed away on May 23, 2022. She was born on August 12, 1927 to the late Arthur George and Lucile Mayes Gordon in Beaumont, Tx.
Gloria, a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown with a Master Degree from the University of Houston, taught in the Louise Elementary School for 30 years. For the remainder of her life, she was recognized by her former students who would greet her with "Mrs. Appling, do you remember me?" She always did.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Appling of Austin; grandson, Richard Appling Mihalski of Louise and fiancée Kristen Nussa.
She is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Dick Heard Appling of Louise and El Campo; daughter, Cathy Anne, and brother, A.G. Gordon, Jr. of Damon.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 4-7PM at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday at 2:00PM at the First United Methodist Church in Louise. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo.
The family would like to thank Angels Healthcare, Angels Hospice, and especially to Linda Tovar and her devoted caregiver, Lupe Collins, for their unceasing love and care for Gloria in her final years.
