William Truman [Billy] Pace Jr, age 17, was one of two teenagers killed in an automobile accident in Lumber City, Ga about 2 pm Friday. Two other Jeff Davis High School students were injured in the accident. R. D. Farmer, Jr, a junior and John Nester, a senior, are recovering after being hospitalized. Kenneth Swain Martin, age 16, a ninth grader, was also killed.

Billy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Pace, Sr. He is survived by his parents, a sister, Lillian and a brother, Ralph, all of Hazlehurst; Maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Powell of Lumber City; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B Pace, Sr. of Hazlehurst.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm at Grace Baptist Church with burial at the Satilla Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeff Davis County. A large number of 1959 senior class members attended the funeral. Billy received his diploma in absentia at the graduation exercises on June 1.
