Peggy Jewell Marshall Lester, 68, of Floyd, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and hardworking dairy farmer and loved by all that knew her. She left us on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, and joined her husband, Curtis Lester in Heaven along with her father and mother, Isaac and Mae Marshall and recently a special sister-in-law, Loretta Marshall. Leaving behind her son, Curtis Lester Jr. and wife, Christina; a daughter, Shelby Rutherford and husband, David and her son and dairy farm partner, Wade Lester. She was richly blessed with seven grandchildren, Loretta Burress and husband, Onassis, Curtis III and wife, Eleanor, Darrell and Kendra Lester and Pamela, Dewayne and Kendall Rutherford. She also had five great-grandchildren. Surviving are her brothers, Monroe Marshall, of Christiansburg, Paul Marshall, of Radford; sisters, Ella Mae Shepard, of Roanoke and Dollie Lester and husband, Wayne, of Christiansburg and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Marvin Wade and the Rev. Frank Peters officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery in Riner. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Maberry Funeral Home. At her request, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren Building Fund at Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, c/o Brenda Hylton, 409 Ridgeview Road, N.W.; Floyd, VA 24091. Maberry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
