Jason Scott Hayes, 29 of Salem, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011. He was born August 25, 1981, in Salem. He was an employee for the City of Salem, graduated from Salem High School, attended VCU and loved ice hockey, playing guitar and listening to music. He is survived by his mother, Diane Shelton Borzotra and her husband, Michael R. Borzotra Sr.; brothers, Shawn Michael Borzotra and Michael Borzotra Jr.; sisters, Kristen N. Borzotra and Michelle McNair and husband, Carlos; nephews, Aidan Michael Borzotra and Emmanuel McNair; maternal grandparents, Dallas and Nelva Shelton; paternal grandmother, Rachel Hayes; uncles, David and Jerry Hayes; and girlfriend, Kaitlin Clingenpeel. He is also survived by his many co-workers and friends whom he considered his other family including his very special friends, Vernon "Speedy" Allie and Mike "Pie" Clingenpeel. Memorial services will be conducted at 10 am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Gary Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. John M. Oakey & Son, Salem, 389-5441 is in charge of arrangements.
