Full Name at Death:
Salley Ann Beach ALLEN HAZELWOOD PRAIGG

(Find-A-Grave guidelines call for the name displayed on the memorial to match the name on the grave)

Daughter of Amos Beach (1784-abt 1835) and Elenor Arnold Beach Howard (1792-1858).

Salley Ann Beach was married three times. She is buried in the Allen Family plot with her children. Her headstone also memorializes her first husband, Alvin Allen. He is buried at the National Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia.

On an affidavit that appears in Alvin's pension record requesting support for her minor children, Salley states that their marriage date was 26 January 1839. However, the affidavit provided by Josiah Porter (Justice of the Peace in East Bloomfield, New York) states that their marriage date was 26 January 1840. Given that daughter Mary Jean was born in September 1839, it seems more likely that Salley's memory was accurate.

First husband - Alvin Allen, m. 26 Jan 1839
Second husband - William Hazelwood, m. 28 Mar 1868
Third husband - Samuel Praigg, m. 16 Jun 1878

Children of Alvin and Salley include:
-Mary Jane Allen m. (1) Herman Donaldson, (2) Samuel Fishell
-Luman N. Allen m. (1) Elizabeth Balch, (2) Mary Atwell
-Lurana Allen m. (1) James Austin, (2) Hiram Hogh, (3) Sylvester Fox
-Arnold Allen m. Elizabeth Young
-James Sidney Allen m. Elva Veroca Nelson
-Adeline Cynthia Allen m. William Wendt
-Alfred Alvin Allen m. Mary Jane Stanlake
-Sarah Louisa Allen m. George Isaac Hazelwood
-Ruth Ann Allen m. Almon Beagle

Note: On the 1880 Census, the information regarding nativity for Allie Praigg named Salley Beach Allen Praigg as his mother. However, Allie was born 8 years before Salley and Samuel Praigg were married. This response incorrectly named his current (step) mother rather than his birth mother.
