Death of a Pioneer

Andrew Fritzier was born May 6th 1815 in Overterill, Prussia, 30 miles from Berlin. Died in his resedence in Springfield Iowa Thursday Dec. 20th 1894 at 4:30 o'clock pm in aged 79 years, 7 months, 13 days. He came to America with his parents, landing in Baltimore July 22, 30. Settling in Miami co. Ohio, was married to Polly Ellis Feb 7th 41. the following fall moved to Louisa Co. Iowa in 1843 to Springfield where he had lived ever since. Mother and Father had walked together 53 years 10 months and 13 days. To them was born ten children, 7 boys and 3 girls all are living, the oldes, Henry and Albert near What Cheer, Ellis of Delta, Hannah the widow of C. H. Knox now of Delta, Adam near Delta, Thomas J. of Orison Colorado, Andrew of Arapha Neb., Annie Rose of Ellwood, Neb., Alfred near Delta, Barbra B. Lash of Ellwood, Neb., Mrs. Lash and family have been here since September. Andrew got home the day before father died. Mrs Rose day of funeral. All were here but Thomas of Colorado.
Father had no near relatives living but two sisters in Ohio. Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Springfield, conducted by Brother S. B. Ross, of Delta with consoling words. The remains were laid to rest in the Springfield cemetery by the large concourse of sypathising friends.
(I have left a few lines out but I think this was the comments that a daughter made that were printed in the Leon newspaper in the 30's as that is when the scrapbook was put together.)
