Herb Root, 61, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 27th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 26th at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Elks Lodge #2509, Blue Springs, MO.
Herb was born on February 24, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Thomas J. and Betty J. (Hilliard) Root. He married Sharon Hoerl on June 17, 1967. Herb owned Herb Root Concrete for 34 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Hoerl, and a brother, Gary Root.
His survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sharon; two daughters: Joy Hightower & her husband, Jake, and Shelly Erwin & her husband, Darrell; one son: Anthony Root & his wife, Teresa; six grandchildren: Jake Hightower, Kasey Hightower, Kary Jennings, Tisha Jennings, Chantz Riley, & Josie Soloman; and two great-grandchildren: Kelly & Connor Jennings.
