Grady Barlow, 84, 248 Big Cove Creek Road, Roan Mountain, died Monday, January 3, 2000, at Cannon Memorial Hospital, Linville, N.C., following a brief illness.
Mr. Barlow was a naive of Watauga County, N.C., and the son of the late Charlie and Lillie Stamey Barlow. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Dunn, a sister, Elva Vance, and a brother, Roy Barlow.
Mr. Barlow was a farmer and logger and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Vallie Barlow, of the home (Note: Vallie died Wednesday, January 5, 2000 - two days after Grady died); four sons and three daughters-in-law, Roy and Susie Barlow, Deep Gap, N.C., Glenn Barlow, Ben and Hester Barlow and Jack and Pat Barlow, all of Roan Mountain; a daughter, Wilma Dunn, Roan Mountain; a sister, Hazel Haney of North Carolina; a half-brother, Gilbert Dillinger of North Carolina; and a half-sister. Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Grady Barlow, 84, 248 Big Cove Creek Road, Roan Mountain, who died Monday, were held Wednesday, January 5 at 8 p.m. at Cove Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dan Blevins officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cove Creek Presbyterian Church.
Joint graveside services for Vallie and Grady Barlow were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Barlow Family Cemetery, Roan Mountain.
Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, was in charge of arrangements.
