Mrs. W.W. Cox, 59, of Lead, died in St. Joseph's hospital in Deadwood this morning shortly before 11 o'clock as the result of a long illness. Ailing for the past several years, Mrs. Cox had entered the hospital September 1.
She is survived by her husband, a son, David, of Denver, and a daughter, Miss Evelyn Cox, Edgemont school teacher. Miss Cox, who spent 10 days at her mother's bedside, returned to Edgemont yesterday to issue her pupil's report cards, planning to be gone only two days. She and Mrs. David Cox will arrive here tonight. Mrs. Cox also leaves a brother, Bert Peterson, Winner; two sisters, Mrs. O.M. Norby, of Hartington, Neb., and Mrs. Gus Sigard, of Long Beach, Cal. and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Cleone, died in 1913.
Isabel Peterson was born in Norway on May 22, 1978. She came to America at the age of two years with her family. The parents settled near Yankton and later moved to Hartington, Neb. where the deceased grew to womanhood. She was married there in 1904 to W.W. Cox. They came to Lead in September, 1908, and have made their home here since.
Mrs. Cox was a member of the Lead Methodist church and Ladies aid, the Woodmen Circle and the Sunshine Society.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made pending word from absent relatives. The Rounsevell funeral home is in charge."

Funeral services for the late Mrs. W.W. Cox, who succumbed yesterday forenoon in St. Joseph's hospital to a lengthy illness, will be held from the Rounsevell funeral home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. The Rev. Nels Fanebust of the Methodist church will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the Municipal cemetery in South Lead.
Miss Evelyn Cox, teacher in the Edgemont schools, arrived home last evening on the Burlington, and Mr. and Mrs. David Cox reached here by car shortly after midnight. They are children of the deceased. A sister, Mrs. O.M. Norby, of Hartington, Neb., is expected to arrive here Wednesday. Neither Mrs. Gus Sigard of Long Beach, Cal., nor Bert Peterson of Winner, another sister and brother of the deceased, will be able to come to Lead for the funeral rites.
The body of the deceased is at the Rounsevell funeral home."
