Lead Daily Call newspaper, August 3, 1931 -
Thomas Corcoran, 54, a well-known resident of Lead and the Black Hills since 1879, succumbed to a brief illness at St. Joseph's hospital in Deadwood yesterday afternoon at 3:25 o'clock. Mr. Corcoran, who had served as a government employee at the local postoffice for many years, suffered a fall from a stone wall at his home about ten days ago and was taken to the hospital in Deadwood. This fall contributed largely to his passing. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, the deceased came to the Black Hills with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Corcoran, 52 years ago as a baby two years old. He has lived continuously in Lead since that time. He is survived by two brothers, John E. Corcoran, of Lead, and James H. Corcoran, of Goldfield, Nev....

Requiem high mass for the late Thomas Corcoran, well known resident of Lead whose death came at St. Joseph’s hospital in Deadwood last Sunday afternoon after an illness of about ten days, will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 o’clock in St. Patrick’s Catholic church. The services were to have been held Wednesday morning, but delay in the arrival of a brother, James H. Corcoran, of Goldfield, Nev., caused the postponement. Mr. Corcoran, who is enroute to Lead and who arrived Wednesday afternoon, was delayed by washouts along the rail line.

Requiem high mass was conducted at St. Joseph’s Catholic church Thursday morning for the late Thomas Corcoran of Lead. A large number of friends of Mr. Corcoran and his family were present to pay last respects. The mass was sung by the Rev. M.S. Roach, who also preached the sermon. Appropriate vocal selections were given by Miss Helen Morganti, Mrs. Ray Carroll and the Rev. J.A. LaFleur. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery in South Lead with the following acting as pallbearers: Archie Laird, George Pelham, Jacob Stone, Dan Walsh, W.J. Dunstan and E.S. Stanley.
