Eric Lehman, 92, of Parkersburg passed away June 12, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 23, 1919 in Rosenberg, Czechoslovakia and grew up in Vienna, Austria. He fled Austria at the age of 19 when he was warned that he was on a list to be deported by the Nazis. With the help of friends in the United States and Israel he was able to get a student visa to the Haifa Technion.

He met his first wife Shoshanna Friedman at a party held by the German Jewish community. At the end of WWII he was able to join his parents in NYC.

Eric was sent to Parkersburg by a lumber company. He fell in love with Parkersburg and never left. He had been a realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Realty and was the owner of the former B.K. Drive Inn restaurant in Belpre, which was known for real root-beer in glass mugs and carhops who came to your car. He loved classical music and gardening and was devoted to his three grandchildren. He was a member of Temple B'nai Israel and served as President three times.

His first wife, Shoshanna Friedman Lehman died in a tragic auto accident in June, 1989. He eventually remarried to Judith Minchew Lehman. His daughters tease him that he married the girl next door.

In addition to his wife and beloved companion, Judith Minchew Lehman, he is survived by his daughters, Dr. Sharon Lehman (Larry Hample) and Tamara Lehman Little and their children Erica Hample, Jacob Hample and David Little, all of Atlanta, Ga.; his stepchildren, Thomas Menchew (Gail) of Texas, Barbara Perkins (Billy) of Virginia, and Anita Campbell (Ronnie) of Tennessee; five stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
