Virgil Ellzey passed away at home peacefully on April 1, 2022, at the age of eighty-four, after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 27,1937 in Ellisville, Mississippi to his parents Charlie A. and Georgia M. Ellzey. He married his first wife Margaret J. Allsbrooks on September 01, 1956, who gave him three children. After Margaret's death, Virgil married Laverne Forshaw in 1989.

Virgil proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1963 and received an honorable discharge. Virgil continued his calling in public service and began his career in Law Enforcement where he joined the Farmers Branch Texas Police Department. After a short time on the Department, Virgil was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and later, he was promoted again to the rank of Lieutenant. Virgil retired as a Police Officer after twenty-eight years of service with an honorable and distinguished record.

Virgil was preceded in death by his father Charlie A. Ellzey in 1978, his mother Georgia M. Ellzey in 1986, his first wife of thirty-one years Margaret J. Ellzey in 1988, his brother Charles V. Ellzey in 2007, and his sisters Eva Cheeks in 2007 and Vivian Butler in 2020.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Laverne Carol Ellzey, his son Paul V. Ellzey and wife Tammy Ellzey, his daughter Margaret D. Carpenter and husband Andrew Carpenter, and daughter Sherry J. Ellzey. stepdaughters Terrie S. Bartlett, Mindi L. Bartlett, and Amy J. Arias, Virgil was also blessed to have nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, adoring father, and friend to many. Virgil enjoyed fishing, hunting, and growing his gardens every year. Virgil came from parents who were farmers, and he took great care in his vegetable gardens. Virgil was very proud of his children enjoyed watching his family grow and build memories together throughout his life. He was a man of honor and service and impacted many lives during his days on earth. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held Monday April 4th, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Waxahachie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday April 5th, 2022, at the Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Final Service and Internment will be at Centerville Baptist Church, 995 Centerville Road, SoSo Mississippi on April 8th, 2022, at 11:00AM.
