From the New York Times, May 16, 1876:
William Henry Broome, Deputy Collector of the United States, died at his residence, No. 97 Park avenue, Brooklyn, on Sunday evening of pleuro-pneumonia. Mr. Broome, who was forty-four years of age, was the son of the late Hon. John L. Broome, and grandson of Col. John Broome, for many years Lieutenant Governor of this State, and an officer during the Revolutionary War. His funeral will take place to-morrow at 2 P.M.
