Betty was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Murphysboro to John Schiro and Helen (Clements) Schiro.
She had worked as a French folder for 31 years at the former Brown Shoe Co. in Murphysboro.
Mrs. Pickering was a member of VFW Ladies Auxillary and Murphysboro Senior Citizens.
Betty married Charles E. Pickering on Nov. 20, 1954, in Murphysboro. He preceded her in death Jan. 27, 2007.
She is survived by one son, Don Misselhorn of Murphysboro; one granddaughter, JoAnn Bryant of Smithville, Ark.; eight great-grandchildren, Travis Misselhorn, Candice Misselhorn, David Crow, Steven Crow, Melissa Crow, Daniel Jones, Christina Jones and Tim Jones; and one very, very close friend, Dianna Nance of Cobden.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Micke Misselhorn and her parents.
