FUNERAL RITES TUESDAY FOR ERNEST E. MEZO

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava for Ernest Edward Mezo, 65, found dead in his home near Alto Pass Saturday.

Rev. Lloyd Aud will officiate. Burial will be in Lone Oak Cemetery.

Mr. Mezo was found dead in his home on Rattlesnake Prairie [Ferry] Road north of Alto Pass Saturday afternoon. Jackson County Coroner Harry Flynn said medication found in the home indicated Mr. Mezo had been receiving treatment for a heart ailment.

He was born April 7, 1900, in Levan Township, the son of William C. and Sylvania Layman Mezo.

Mr. Mezo was a farmer and a fruit orchard worker.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

He leaves brothers, Earl of Ava and Herbert of Roswell, N.M., and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Melton of Pine Bluff, Ark.

His wife and three brothers preceded him in death.

Obituary was retrieved from a family scrapbook and is believed to be from The Southern Illinoisan.
