Friday night at about 11 o'clock, November 17, Joseph Henry Sheppard, aged 76 years, died at the home of his son, Edward M. Sheppard, on Left Reedy, Wirt County. Funeral services were conducted from the Hill Grove Baptist Church on Sunday morning by Rev. Daily, and interment was made in the nearby cemetery in the presence of a large number of the deceased's relatives and friends. "Uncle Joe" as he was known to hundreds of friends, was a well known and repected citizen of Wirt County for nearly fifty years. He leaves surviving four children, Edward M. and James W. Sheppard and Mrs. Charles Haney and Mrs. L.A. Evans, all of Wirt County.
