Robert Alvie Banks, 76, of 793 W. Main Street Wabash IN, died at 9:40am Sunday, August 28, 2005 at his home in Wabash. He was born on October 7, 1928 in Wabash County, IN to Ora and Louise (Owen) Banks.

Robert was married Oct. 6, 1956 in Wabash, IN to Rebecca Schuster. He worked at Bertsch Services in Wabash, Celotex in Lagro, and the Wabash Railroad. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, and Hanna Masonic Lodge both of Wabash. Bob enjoyed fishing, spending time on Lake Ridinger, and his family. He was a Wabash High School graduate and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Banks of Wabash; three daughters, Peggy Jane Banks and Amy Joann (Randy) Gillespie, both of Wabash, and Myra Jean (Phillip) Behr of Gas City; a son, David C. Banks of Sierra Blanca, Texas; two sisters, Virginia Williams and Frances Baublet, both of Wabash; eight grandchildren, Maranda Jane Gillespie, Robert Randall Gillespie, and Adam Michael Gillespie of Wabash, Hope Nicole Gillespie, California, Ashley Dawn Behr, Travis Wayne Behr, Trevin James Behr, and Alistin Jade Behr, all of Gas City. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Sanders, and one sister, Marilyn Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 10:30am with Pastor Kerri McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 2-8pm Tuesday Aug. 30, 2005 at the funeral home.
