Lauren Eugene Van Winkle was born February 28, 1908 at Woodroff (sic), Kansas and passed away March 7, 1980 at Papillion. His parents were Lauren L. and Leona E. Van Winkle. Mr. Van Winkle moved to Gretna in November 1943. He worked as a depot agent for the Burlington Railroad until 1973. He worked for the Burlington for 46 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gretna. Survivors include his wife Sue, two sons Donald Eugene of Houston, Texas and Jerry Lee of Spokane Washington; 3 grandgrildren Robert Lee Van Winkle, Steven Reid Van Winkle and Shelly Gaye Van Winkle and one great grandchild Stacy Van Winkle. Funeral services were held Monday March 10, 1980 at the Kahler Dolce Mortuary in Papillion with the Rev. Harry Walles officiating. Internment was in the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska.
