Son of Elizabeth Kennedy of Argyle, Washington, New York and Lemuel Mallory of Johnstown District, Upper Canada.

Charles was nearly ten years old when he crossed the Great Plain from Missouri to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah Territory.

He traveled with his family: mother Elizabeth Kennedy and father, Lemuel Mallory; brother, Elisha and his wife, Mary Hall, along with his older sister, Eliza Jane and younger sister, Frances Adeline.

They left the Council Bluffs area, which was then called Kanesville, Iowa on 11 June 1850, with the James Pace Company of Mormon Pioneers. They were with 100 wagons and about 300 people, plus cattle, horses and other animals.

They had only been on the route for 16 days when his mother died of Cholera. His mother's sister had died earlier and they were both buried along the trail.

After reaching the Salt Lake Valley, his father married several times.

Charles married 1. Caroline Mary Turner LeSueur 10 March 1866 at Montpelier, Bearlake, Idaho.

Their children were:

Charles Lemuel, 1867-1950; Warren James, 1868-1945; Emma Jane, 1870-1960; Lorenzo, 1873-1935; John William, 1874-1874; Rosetta, 1875-1905; and Caroline Mary 1878-1878.

Caroline Mary Turner died shortly after the birth of her last daughter and the tiny girl died 20 days later.

Charles married 2. Dorcas Dann (widow of Jonathan Martin Harris & divorced from Joseph Heber Stallings).

Charles and Dorcas had two children together, before they divorced:

Dellroy Mallory, 1890-1983 and Elmer Clinton Mallory 1892-1953.
