One of four children born to Jacob and Margaret Bolander in Elizabethtown, OH. Brother to John, William L. and Amos. Husband of Amanda Ann Morgan, married March 31, 1869 in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana. Raised and lived on the line between Indiana and Ohio. Served as Civil War soldier in Co. G, 7th Rgt., Indiana Inf. Vols. from April 21, 1861 to August 2, 1861; in Ohio Co. D, 5 Regt. Q. Cav. Vols. enlisted September 11, 1861, mustered November 9, 1861 to Novmeber 9, 1864; and in Co. C, 5 Regt. U.S. Vet. Col. from March 13, 1865 to October 20, 1865. Isaac was a civil war invalid pensioner due to heart disease from October 1890 until his death in 1902. His wife Amanda died in August or September 1922.
