Daughter of Jim & Ellie Sheriff Burdette.

Her first husband was Grover C. Richardson, who died October 26, 1941.
He was the father of most of her children.

Her second husband was John Phillips, with whom she had one son. Dora's marital status is enumerated in the 1950 Census as separated. John died June 22, 1959 at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, where he was living with his daughter and son-in-law, SGT & Mrs. E. L. (Dovie) Duncan.

She was a member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Survived by five sons, Winford Richardson and Haskell Richardson, both of Liberty; Hewey Richardson and Dewey Richardson, both of Greenville, and Len Phillips of Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Viola) Cooper of Liberty; two stepsons, R. M. Phillips of Greenville and Melvin Phillips of Detroit, MI; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Sarah Crowe of Detroit, MI, and Mrs. Dovie Duncan of Dover, DE; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three brothers, T. J. Burdette and Clyde Burdette, both of Lavonia, GA, and Roderick Burdette of Greenville; and four sisters, Mrs. Luzania Blackwell of Lavonia, GA, Mrs. Elnora Gosnell of Greenville, and Mrs. Allie Will Rogers and Mrs. Montez Cooley, both of Pelzer.

Funeral services: Saturday, October 9, 1971, Calumet Baptist Church.

Note - Harold Richardson (178051178) is listed in his obituary as a native of Oconee (County) SC, and as a son of Grover Cleveland and Dora Richardson, but he was not listed in her obituary as a surviving son. He is present in the household in the 1940 Census as well as being listed as a surviving son in his father's 1941 obituary as Hal.
