Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Schnider Funeral Home ,and one hour prior to her funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
The Lord came, took her by the hand, and led her peacefully home on July 21. Her loved ones were at her bedside on her final journey.
Agnes was born March 9, 1917, to Karl and Ragnhild (Fjaagesund) Blomberg on their homestead west of Craig. She married James I. Burch Jr. of Choteau in 1936. Three children were born of this union. She later married Lawrence B. Hortick in 1953, and was widowed in 1962.
Her love of her family was paramount. She was a devout Lutheran her entire life, and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, who enjoyed the members of her congregation. Agnes loved music, art, playing cards, traveling, family outings and holidays. Her sense of humor and wit was enjoyed by all. Her career ranged from retail to real estate, to secretary, before retiring with 30 years as a rate clerk/stenographer with the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad.
We have lost our matriarch, our loved one, friend and caretaker. She will live in our hearts forever.
Survivors include her children, Lauretta Stanfield and Sterling Burch, both of Great Falls, and Charlotte Burch of Billings; cousin Arlo Petersen of Great Falls; nieces Colleen Walley of Ellensburg, Wash., and Lynn (Lon) Brower of Pinehurst, Idaho; nephew Gale Walley of Post Falls, Idaho; great-niece Kristen Marquis of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; great-nephew Michael (Cheryl) Brower of Misawa, Japan; and numerous loving cousins in Canada and Sweden.
In addition to her husband Lawrence, Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Esther and Clara; brothers Johan and Alfred; an infant daughter; a son, and a son-in-law, Forrest Stanfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1226 1st Ave. N., Great Falls, MT 59401-3201 or a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be posted online at www.schniderfuneralhome.com and/or www.gftribune.com/obituaries.
