James B. Potter, son of Jabeck Kings Potter and Dolly Potter was born in Munson, Geauga County, Ohio, July 7, 1856.

He passed away Dec. 25, 1938 at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 15 days.

When about six weeks old his parents moved to Hartsgrove where he has made his home since, except for about one year when he lived in Windsor and Orwell. He had lived in the same home 54 years.

On Dec 1, 1880 he was united in marriage to Emma I Evans. To this union, one son EArl, was born. Four sisters and five brothers passed away
before him. He leaves his wife, Emma I, son Earl, and brothers, Ebin Potter of
Hartsgrove, Orin G. Potter of Pepin Wisc., one cousin Avis Obrion of Willoughby, Ohio, and a score of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn his loss.

He was a member of Maple Grove Grange No. 1556, Pomona and State Grange and Maccabees Lodge. His motto was "Do unto others as you would like to be done by".

Funeral services were held Dec 28 at Paine's Funeral Home in Orwell with Rev.
G.T. Wright of the Orwell Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial was in Hartsgrove, Ohio
