Actor. He was best know for the the lead role in the motion picture "Smithy" (1946), a biographical movie about the pioneering Australian aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. This role led him to Hollywood where he appeared in "Kiss Me, Kate," "I Am a Camera," and "King of Kings." He acted on television in the ABC anthology series "The Vise," as well as guest starring roles on "Bewitched," "Mission: Impossible," and several daytime soap operas. His Broadway career of over forty years included "The Browning Version," "Candida," "The World of Suzie Wong," "Mrs. Warren's Profession," "Bent," and "The School for Scandal." He was married to actress and singer Laya Raki in 1958 and they were together until his death.
