Born Virginia Elizabeth Scott to Stella Scott, widow of Glenn Caryl Scott, Virginia was raised with her grandparents in Lancaster, California until her mother remarried Ivan Semerenko of Lancaster. She married Royal Edgar Varty in 1946; divorced by 1950. Remarried Robert Lynn Emett @ 1960 and divorced in 1966. Remarried Thomas Claffey in the 1970's and divorced. Virginia, known as Scotty in her early years and Ginny after 1960 had two sons, Michael Scott Varty Emett (adopted by stepfather) and James Stewart Emett. After her final divorce she dedicated her life to the Pasadena Fire Department as an administrative assistant. She had been failing for about eight years with dementia and finally passed way.

She will be missed by her sons and her five surviving grandchildren and ten surviving (soon to be 11) great-grandkids.
