Major League Baseball Player. Born in Snake creek, Virginia, he was a right handed pitcher making his debut with the Washington Senators on September 9, 1913. Known for throwing the spit ball, for nine seasons he played for the Washington Senators 1913 to 1919 and the Detroit Tigers 1919 to 1921. He ended his career with 109 complete games, 65 wins, 79 loses, 17 shutouts, 15 saves, 622 strikeouts and a 2.82 earned run average. He died at age 77 in Pulaski, Virginia.
