Jim was born February 19, 1924 in Edwardsville, Kansas to the late Cecil Guy Millsap and Thelma Louise Lowe Millsap and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
He owned and operated Millsap Produce from 1958 until his retirement in 1980. He loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. In his younger life, he worked as a farmer and raised and sold produce. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II. He attended Carl Junction United Methodist Church and was a former member of Southside Baptist Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Elvada, in 1997. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Max Millsap and Cecil Millsap; a brother-in-law, Paul Kincaid; and a sister-in-law, Laverne Millsap.
Survivors include four sons, Stephen Millsap and his wife, Shirley, Carthage, Stanley Millsap and his wife, Julie, Joplin, Michael Millsap and his companion, Karen, Joplin, Robert Millsap and his companion, Teresa, Laurie, Missouri; a daughter, Carla Albertson and her husband, Mike, Cameron, Missouri; his companion of twelve years, Esther Gilpin; two step daughters, Sharon Clanton and her husband, Max, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Barbara Bilke, Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Norma Kincaid, Bonner Springs, Kansas; sister-in-law, Vera Millsap, Cameron, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. Interment will follow at Carl Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Albertson, Eric Schmidt, Brian Leslie, Dale Millsap, Chris Youtsey, Ricky Millsap and John Dorton. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice Group, in care of Parker Mortuary.
