Obituary.
Mrs. A. W. Congdon died at her residence in East Brainerd on Saturday morning of apoplexy, aged 65 years. Mrs. Congdon was taken suddenly ill Friday evening and never recovered from the shock. The remains were embalmed by Losey & Dean in order that the funeral might be deferred until relatives from a distance could arrive. On Tuesday afternoon the funeral services were preached at the Second Congregational church in East Brainerd, the Rev. Wood officiating. Mrs. Eva Adams, of Sprague, W. T., Mrs. Sarah Swartz, of Fargo, Mrs. Mary Shaffer [sic], of Mapleton D. T., and Mrs. Nado of Fargo, daughters of the deceased, arrived on Monday afternoon and were present at the funeral services.
The deceased was a lady highly respected in the community in which she lived and possessed many virtues of heart and mind. She was a devoted christian lady and her death will be mourned by a large circle of friends in this city. (Brainerd Dispatch, 13 July 1888, p. 4, c. 6)
