James Maulding was the son of Richard Maulding. James was born in Caroline Co VA. He married Catherine "Caty" Tyler. They had 7 children. Ambrose, Richard Tyler, Jane, Mary, Frances, Morton, Wesley D. called West. In the fall of 1780 James Maulding came from his wife and children and settled on the Red River in Logan Co Ky. The place was called Maulding's station.
James is recognized by DAR as patriot A075678 for civil service, and patriotic service during the Rev War. He was a tax assessor, Juror, and Member of Committee in the new government. The family had a part in organizing Logan Co from Lincoln Co. James was a judge, Ambrose was justice of the peace, Morton represented Logan Co in the KY legislature, and later West was the sheriff of Logan co.

Kentucky Historical Marker #1137 in Logan Co on KY 663 is about Maulding's Fort - the same as Mauldings station. It is 1 mile North and 3 miles East of Adairville KY, and is across the road from the entrance to the Red River Meeting House

Mary called Polly married John Wesley Daily and she is buried in 10 mile cemetery in Hamilton Co IL
