Arietta M. Akins, age 89, of Tellico Plains, our beloved mother, "Mamaw" and friend, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at her home. A charter member of Druid Hill Baptist Church, where in earlier years, she was a choir director. Had a quiet, gentle nature with a beautiful soprano voice. Known locally and beyond for her beautiful oil paintings of scenery especially of the mountains and Bald River Falls that she loved so much. Above all she loved the Lord and her family.

Survivors: daughters & sons-in-law, Nova & Bill Rogers, Madisonville, Linda Gail Miller, Stockbridge, GA, Jeane & Larry Buckner, Rossville, GA, Lynne (Scottie) & Al Weaver, Apison; sons & daughter-in-law, Mike & Carol Ann Akins, Sweetwater and Mark Akins, Tellico Plains; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister & brother-in-law: Mayme & Howard Kinser, Madisonville; brother & sister-in-law: Stowe & Sybil Lenderman, Knoxville; several nieces & nephews & cousins.

Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Roy J. Akins; grandson, Roger C. Miller, parents Luther S. & Elsie Lenderman; sister, Gertrude Carringer; brothers, Blake, Wayne and Clarence Lenderman; and son-in-law, Vance Miller.

Funeral 7 P.M. Saturday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Jim Stakely and Rev. James Atkins officiating.

Interment 2 P.M. Sunday, Druid Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 P.M. Saturday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
