Soviet Political Leader and Ideologist. A communist party member since 1921 Suslov rose to fame as a member of the Communist Party throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In 1941 he was named to the Party's Central Committee, gaining fame as leading Party theoretician to his condemnations from Soviet policy to his anti-Yugoslav propaganda in 1948. In 1955 he became a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee. In 1957 he supported Nikita Khruschev's bid for power but in 1964 he was influential in the downfall of Nikita Khruschev and the installation of Leonid Brezhnev.
