Animal Actor. Benji I, whose real name was Higgins, was owned and trained by famed animal trainer and breeder Frank Inn. Inn adopted 'Higgins' in 1960 from the Burbank Animal Shelter in Burbank, California. Inn trained him and he went onto appear in the television series, "Petticoat Junction" (1963-1970), and his first feature film, "Benji" (1974).
