Mr. Aitchison worked at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1994.
He was born on March 6, 1934, in Anamosa, son of William and Isabell (Kirsch) Aitchison. He married Gladys Wieferich on May 28, 1954, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington.
He received his education at the former St. Mary's School, Cascade. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 94 and St. Matthias Parish, Cascade. He enjoyed playing cards and helping others. He was an avid bowler.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Aitchison, of Cascade; a daughter, Joy (Charlie) Bacon Jr., of Hopkinton; two sons, Neil (Wendy) Aitchison, of Dubuque, and Keith (Mary Ann) Aitchison, of Cascade; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard (Kay) Aitchison, of Cascade, and Gary (Sharon) Aitchison, of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Mark Aitchison, in 1972.
A William K. Aitchison Memorial Fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
