U.S. Congressman. During World War I, he served as a Corporal in the US Army in France. After the war, he was a newspaper publisher in South Norwalk, Connecticut, chairman of the Veterans’ Home Building Commission (1931-38) and city clerk of Norwalk, (1933-40). In 1941, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-seventh Congress, serving until 1943. An unsuccessful for reelection, he resumed the newspaper publishing business, was comptroller of the City of Norwalk, (1943-44) and War Manpower Director for southwestern Connecticut, (1944-46). He served as regional representative for the Veterans' Administration from 1961, until his death at age 61.
