U.S. Congressman. Entering politics, he was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in 1832 and served in the Pennsylvania State Senate, (1834-35). In 1837, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress and died suddenly in office at age 48.
