Composer. He composed the famed opera "Maritana" in London in 1845 and was the first composer and performer to undertake a world tour from Australia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, New Orleans, New York , and back to Europe in 1844. He died in a castle in the Pyrenees. Modern recordings of his music are available on cd.
