Henrietta Embry , was the daughter of Sarah and Douglas Pharam of New Town, Arkansas. She married the late Rev. Haze E. Embry in 1898. To this union twelve children were born of which five survived. She was a member of St. Mathews Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Glasco Wilson since the age of twelve years. She remained a faithful member until her death in 1970.

Mrs. Henrietta Embry, 89 years old, member of one of the most beloved negro famiilies of the county, died Saturday night January 10 in a local hospital.

A native of Newtown on route one Alma, she had made her home with a daughter, in Fort Smith for the past six years. She was the wife of the late Haze Embry, well known minister of the Baptist church, and was a member of St. Matthews Baptist church at Newtown.

Survivors are, a son, four daughters, seven grandchildren, one step-grandchild and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at St. Matthews Baptist church at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Ernest Howell was the officiating minister. Burial in Beal caemetery was directed by Our Funeral Home.
